That's deep in the internals and so the answer is probably no.

You'll need to trace through the code (both as it is used normally and 
in your usecase) to see if you can extract information that you want.

I'm sure you can snapshot how the perspective looks (with saveDescAs(*), 
etc) but I'm not sure how you could feed it back into an already open 
perspective ... except maybe by somehow making that the custom 
description and resetting.
