[news.eclipse.platform] Add external editor causes eclipse shutdown

Dear All,

I'd like to configure an external editor for xsd files, using Eclipse
3.2 on Windows. Here's what I do:

 - Window > Preferences
 - General > Editors > File Associations
 - Click *.xsd, then next to Associated editors, click Add
 - In the Editor Selection box, click External Programs

At that point, Eclipse hangs for a bit (30-60 seconds) and then shuts down 
gracefully with no error message. Is this a bug? If so where should I 
report it?
