Thanks for the fast respons Alex.

Unfortunately I misunderstood my colleague. He didn't mean to remove the plugins, but in the already described scenario plugin c0.1 should be disabled after the update. He claims that it isn't and due to that reason errors do occure, because extension points are loaded which should not be loaded.

You can't do this with update manager. Also note that it doesn't remove a0.1 or b0.1 either; they're still kept in the plugins/ directory. (This is primarily to support rollback if the update doesn't work, or you experience problems with the newer version and want to use the old one.)

There isn't a mechanism to allow Update Manager to remove unrequired plugins at this time.
