[news.eclipse.platform] Question about running Eclipse on cygwin???

Howdy all,
   I am having some troubles getting eclipse up and running on my box... 
More specifically I want to run eclipse along with the c/c++ CDE in the "X" 
windows environment to develope some c++ app for linux and or cgywin boxes. 
Here are some specifics:

1. Windows box running XP professional SP2
2. Latest Cygwin install (I think) I just cleaned it off and did a total 
reinstall two days ago ( 14 mar 06).

3. I downloaded the eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz
and untarred it in /usr/local
4.  Now have a /usr/local/eclipse directory... so far so good..

5.  It the /usr/local/eclipse directory I try the command ./eclipse  (here's 
where the trouble starts! :-))
 Here is what I get:

./eclipse: ./eclipse: cannot execute binary file

OK folks,  Where did I go wrong???  I must have done something wrong any 
ideas???  How do I get this up and running here???
