Big reason in my book is that every time you make a save it can cause a
rebuild. I have seen a LOT of hangs in Eclipse when this is enabled. If you
add a number of build processes to the internal build cycle, it can take
some time every time you make a simple change. I prefer this be disabled for
my own use.
