[news.eclipse.platform.swt] SWT-Qt again -- no more license issues!

Hi everyone,

This topic has been brought up a few times and it has always been said that there were problems with the project, since the GPL and EPL are likely incompatible.

Well, Trolltech has just put out Qt 4.4, which as part of the GPL Exception they have created to support other OSS licences explicitly includes Eclipse Public License 1.0. This means that it is acceptable for software with this license to link to the Qt library!

In fact, EPL was added to the accepted licenses in Qt 4.3.2, now that I look back at it.

Does this mean we can finally get SWT-Qt? Are there still any ongoing projects in this area? If so, it's now safe to release your code :-) I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

You can find the current license exception here: http://doc.trolltech.com/main-snapshot/license-gpl-exceptions.html

Cheers,
Sérgio
