Thanks for your reply to my question. I believe you are correct. I tried un-installing Firefox from my machine and the problem went away. So, as you suggest, my Eclipse RCP application must have been trying to access the Firefox xpcom.dll rather than the XULRunner version I am trying to link to at runtime.
