[news.eclipse.platform.swt] Re: Screen patches, still occuring?

Hi Robert,

Sorry if the next few sentences sound rude but I have to say this:

I only see you complaining that this is not right and that is not correct, spreading the world that one can't use SWT to write sophisticated applications, SWT can't be used for commerical applications, ... . You don't attach your information to bugs we mention you are only complaining, complaining, ... . I'm tired of this and my time is invested better to really help people who do their homework.

I'm not sure if you use the same bugzilla-id as you do for your mailing to the newsgroup but if that's true:
- you have filed 0 bugs
- you have CC'ed yourself to 0 bugs
- you have commented on 0 bugs

I've used this query: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&long_desc_type=allwordssubstr&long_desc=&bug_file_loc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_loc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&emailreporter1=1&emailcc1=1&emaillongdesc1=1&emailtype1=substring&email1=oh1226%40hotmail.com&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&votes=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sort+as+last+time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0=

Instead of investing your energy in complaining I'd suggest to sit down and provide a snippet (it has to be as complex as it has to be to show the problem so snippet might not be the right term) to reproduce or even better dive into the source and produce a patch to fix the bug!

If it's really pointless to write SWT-Applications then I'd suggest you search for another technology maybe Swing or QT-Jambi are better suited for you.

In the end I'd like to state the following: There are many people around here who try to provide a great framework to you to do your business (whether they are payed by a company for it - many employees even invest some of their sparetime - or doing the work in their sparetime). They all care about Eclipse. It is by the way not the responsibility of the Foundation to define which bug has to be fixed when this is the responsibility of the project teams.

This problem exists for years and I wonder whether this will be
fixed at all. It works ok only for snippets and simple ui programs.
With this problem remaining, it's pointless to develop s/w
using SWT, JFace, RCP, etc., at all.

I am not sure how much Eclipse foundation is committed to
resolve this issue as soon as possible? One thing I can say
is that with this remaining, it cannot be used broadly,
other than writting simple ui programs.

Regards.
