I totally agree to this. Swing is useless crap!
Combining them will be a desaster! If you like Swing,
use Swing only. That will be much better alternative.
There is no point using SWT in addition.

0.) I think Swing isn't soo bad (compared to SWT) from the user point of view (which has been a killer argument for java < 1.4). If I use SWT on top of it I even don't have to care about its api and I am able to use its powerful features if I need it..


1.) Why should it be a desaster? Any serious stuff or just that useless flame stuff?

2.) This isn't a question of personal preferences, this are buissnes descisions.
If you're working at a company you've almost no chances to be allowed to use SWT just becaus eit needs native libraries and therefor is restricted to supported platforms + trusted enviroments. A swing port would still allow to run the swt app on top of win32 or gtk but if needed you would also have the chance to use it out of the box in your applet.
