I'm fine with that; you shall be able to use and extend the Forms SWT port. More than that I would assist you in integrating my FormLayout into your UI builder. I just want to prevent others from selling my sources.

Then I think that my earlier suggestion is probably still the best way: make it an open source project either under LGPL or CPL and put it on SourceForge. If you'd like my help porting it, I'd be happy to work with you once SWTworkbench is at a point where that is the most productive use of my time. In the meantime, SourceForge provides mailing list services, etc., that will make discussing the issues easier.

My suggestion would be that if you want to see
a SWT port happen that you get it it started and
put your work on SourceForge licensed under
the CPL. (...)

It seems that there's little interest in the port, and so I may end up doing it myself. It's just that I'm so busy with my Swing activities.

I hear you about that. :-{ I read your white paper before and think you have a nice piece of work, though.

In my previous post I hesitated to mention the many
weaknesses of the public SWT layout managers
- to not start another Swing/AWT vs. SWT war:
 1) SWT layout almost always breaks the Microsoft
    and Apple Aqua style guides
 2) SWT layout does not retain proportions if
the font, font size or resolution changes

I think we're all for making SWT better whenever possible.

I just think that a lot of people (myself included) don't have the typeography and graphic arts background that you do to notice the difference that much.

Having said that, I'm always for progress. :-)

I will post any progress to this group.

Thanks. I'll be watching. If there's a way I can productively help, please let me know and I'll see what time I can carve out.

Best regards,
