Celera (http://www.celera.com) is looking for a senior Eclipse RCP
developer to build a commercial application that is the key component of
Celera's molecular diagnostic test kits. The application is a ?thick?
client application that is based on Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP). It
can import the ABIF files, process the sequence data, and export consensus
sequences in FASTA format. It can also display the sequence
electropherogram and alignment graphically.
This is a "hands-on" senior developer position. You will be responsible
for the design and development of plug-ins for DNA sequence analysis
pipeline. In-depth Knowledge and experience of the Eclipse RCP is a must.
Responsibilities:
? Design, implement, and unit test thick applications in Java following an
agile software development process
? Design, implement, and unit test plug-ins for DNA sequence analysis
pipeline
? Utilize innovative approaches to problem solving
? Generate high quality engineering documents
? Perform deign/code reviews
Must-have Skills:
? Extensive experience with programming in Java
? Hands-on experience using Eclipse RCP and GUI libraries including SWT,
JFace, and GEF
? Expert-level understanding of MVC development
? Expert-level understanding of GUI threading and events
? Hands-on experience generating custom renderers, specifically for Table
and Tree
? Hands-on experience designing and developing reusable custom UI
components
? Hands-on experience on UI performance profiling and tuning
? Ability to translate screen design into well-designed Eclipse RCP
plug-ins
? Ability to work in a demanding, rapid iterative development environment
? Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
Big Plus Skills:
? Familiarity with BioJava APIs
? Experience working under FDA Quality System Regulations
? Sequence Data Visualization development experience
? Knowledge of some aspect of molecular biology
? OOAD, UML, Design Patterns
? Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
? Familiarity with Software version control and build tools (CVS, SVN,
Ant, Maven)
? Automated Unit Testing (JUnit, TestNG, or other tools)
? JasperReports (iReport)
? XML/XSL (JiBX)
? Database (MySQL, Derby, or other RDMS)
