[news.eclipse.platform.rcp] Can the Spelling service be used in stand-alone SWT/Jface apps?

I'd like to add spell checking to my stand-alone SWT/JFace app.  Is it 
possible to use the eclipse spelling APIs for this, or in that only 
available for RCP apps?

If it's possible, could you point me to an example or a place to look to get 
started?

If not possible, could you suggest an alternative?
