[news.eclipse.platform.rcp] Only "generic" on extensions context menu

Hi.
I'm a noob to rcp and going through some tutorials.
I'm trying to add a view....
In the extension editor, I select Add...  and then choose 
org.eclipse.ui.views and then click "Finish"

Now I'm told to right click on the new extension and choose New > View 
but when I right click and choose New > all i get is "generic".

This is also true if I right click on any other extension (the 
application or perspective)

Am I missing a library or something?
