[news.eclipse.platform.rcp] Branding an eclipse ide

We want to define an eclipse environment, that is branded like an rcp
application,
but behaves as a "normal" eclipse ide (i.e., the user could compose its own
functionality, using the plugins he wants).

In Detail:
We want to have our own welcome screen, splash screen, skinning etc,
but we don't want to loose the flexibility of the ide behaviour.

How can we achieve this ?
Is the right way to "open" an rcp application that any plugina can be added
or is the right way to brand a "normal" eclipse ide?
