[news.eclipse.newcomer] Re: Old version of Eclipse Ide for Java EE developers

Denis,

Doesn't the next thread indicate that people don't read any of the additional links already on the page? :-P I.e., I think the argument that even if we put a link for other Eclipse downloads on the page people still won't find it is a valid one. But I think you might be arguing that if we put another link there, it will just confuse people, and of that I'm not so convinced.

Actually, the thread immediately below this one [1] is perhaps the main reason the links are not on the main download page. I'll post more on the bug, as that's the most relevant place.

(the person asking about the difference between the packages, despite there being a link called "compare packages" and "find out more" links peppered throughout the page

Matti,

You might want to comment on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=208381. I'm a bit frustrated that some folks seem to believe that it's somehow better if it's hard to find older (any other) downloads from the main download page. Yet I see folks getting lost because of this constantly. :-(

You'll need to assemble older installs yourself from the separate downloadable pieces, e.g.,

    http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/
    http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/downloads/?project=

Hello, I'm trying to complete a use case of model weaving. It turned out there is some compatibility issues. Is it possible to download old version of Eclipse Ide for Java EE developers? It would be easy to download everything (not atl and amw though)in same download? If this is not possible, how to download old versions separately? Like all (Eclipse, EMF, ATL, AMW etc) reflecting the situation of, say June 2007.
