1. Have you looked in the log? If one exists, it would be in the .metadata
directory of the workspace.
2. Precisely what do you mean by "i then can't have access to the
Window>Preferences>Java since it's not there"? What is not where?
3. When you say "Or the application eclipse won't even start", do you mean
that sometimes Eclipse will start and sometimes it won't?
4. Have you tried specifying the Java VM explicitly, using the -vm command
line option? (Although, judging from your path that should not be
necessary.)
As an aside, you might consider installing 3.2.2, which contains half a
year's worth of additional bug fixes compared to 3.2.0.
