[news.eclipse.newcomer] Re: Unable to start a C++-Project

Hello again ...

Okay, then you're going to have to be careful and make sure you're getting only 64-bit pieces put together... if you're not familiar with Linux, that could be difficult. Even experienced Linux people have problems putting the pieces together!
<
I know the huge problem about mixing 64/32 bit pieces .. i hope that i will not do this .. but i also know, that i often will not be control this, so i must 'believe' ... ;-)

For Eclipse on Linux, that means (1) making sure you're using a 64-bit JVM (I've had mixed experience finding 64-bit versions of JVMs... I've finally just settled on using BEA's JRockit JVMs myself); and (2) making sure that you're getting 64-bit systems libraries ... I can't help you much here... I've seen problems where the x86_64 version of Eclipse couldn't find the 64-bit GTK libraries... I'm hoping your Linux finds the right version automatically... reading through the stack trace neither confirms nor denies that as the problem for me, as I'm not OSGi-knowledgeable... sorry!
<
The dimension of things i do not know ( specially with the eclipse-unix combination ) arise to fast for me, so i stop with trying to help me for my self and will search some unix expert in my friendship.
I am sure, that this huge communication here will help him, so that he ( or perhaps she ) solves everything with a couple of things he do ...

Sorry I was so long responding... I took a few days of vacation.
<
You should not excuse ... i could not read any possible answers anyway, beacuse of 2 exams in the early past ...

So i should excuse, that you feel uncomfortable, that you did not responding ...

I hope your vacation was as good as you hoped!

Best wishes from here ...

Sebastian
