It has been my experience that the "ignore whitespace" setting controls
whether or not a file is considered different or not. If there are ONLY
whitespace changes, then the files are not flagged as different.
However, if there is some other change such that the file IS flagged,
then the on-screen comparison shows ALL differences, whitespace or not.
