[news.eclipse.newcomer] help with ignore whitespace

I am trying to compare two files with mostly whitespace differences. I 
have set "ignore whitespace" but it continues to show the changed lines 
that are just whitespace differences. Am I not understanding how this 
works or is there something else I have to do to get this to work?
