[news.eclipse.newcomer] Compile on save vs. on change

Hi ---
 A few years back I used an earlier version of Eclipse that allowed me to 
toggle between "compile only on save" and "compile while typing."  I've 
recently downloaded and begun using version 3.0.2, and I can no longer 
find this option. The compiler is endlessly highlighting and complaining 
while I type, and it's beginning to drive me nuts. Can anyone *please* 
tell me how to get the compiler to be quiet until File -> Save?
