[news.eclipse.modeling] Re: [PMF] Feedback about the PMF project

Hi Jean-Sebastien,

Good to hear from your team. We are very interested in anyone with experience and technology for UI modeling whishing to contribute/participate.
You can see the PMF abstract here: http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/pmf/ and Yves POC demo here: http://www.soyatec.com/eface/video/PMF.html

The spectrum for UI Models can range from purely PIM (far left) to a 1-1 mapping of a UI platform (far right).
PMF will likely be a gathering place of all parties interested in UI Modeling, transformation and generation to specific technical UI platforms.
I expect PMF by the end of 2009 to consist of:
1) A clear PIM level metamodel and tooling to edit and transform
2) A number of metamodels and accompanying support tools to edit and transform for different locations on the spectrum between PIM and target platform technology
3) A number of examples of transformations to different supported UI platforms like SWT/JFace/RCP, JSF, e4 (and maybe also Swing, ASP.Net, GWT, Flash, XAML, etc...)

Could you give us some links to the work you have been doing concerning UI Modeling?

Since the proposal went public we have gathered quite an impressive group of people eager to participate which is very encouraging.
We would very much welcome participation from your team
and look forward to discussing UI modeling and transformations with the AtlanMod team.

Regards,

Jim

Hello,

We, AtlanMod team (an INRIA-EMN team led by Jean Bézivin), are
interested in participating to the PMF project. We have experience in
several Eclipse projects: M2M (model-to-model transformation with
ATL), GMT with the AM3, AMW, and Modisco components, and TMF with the
TCS component.

During his Ph.D. on Model Driven Adaptation of User Interfaces (UI)
Jean-Sébastien experienced the usage of model-to-model transformation
(M2M) as well as model-to-text (M2T), to generated user interfaces. He
unified around a generic UI model code generation from abstract and
data model to technology such as XUL, XAML, HTML and Swing.

We are in relation with other interested parties such as Obeo, etc.

We will be glad to participate to the PMF and we are willing to share
our experience of model-to-model (M2M) transformations usage for UI.

Best regards,

AtlanMod team
