[news.eclipse.modeling.gmf] Background color of nodes lost when converting to GMF 2.2

I used GMF 2.1 before, and now I try to migrate to GMF 2.2.
My nodes have background-colors set (using Background of Figure in
gmfgraph). When I open a diagram that I saved with 2.1, all nodes have
white background though.
GMF 2.2 seems to need more information to display nodes properly.
I can change the color using Appearance-Properties, and new nodes get
their color as expected.
Is this the expected behavior?
Is there a way to convert my old diagram files?
Thanks in advance!
