[news.eclipse.modeling.gmf] How to alter the shape of nodes on the fly?

Hello everyone,

I would much like to change the shape/colour of a node at runtime what 
function would I need to do this?

What I would like ideally is to have a node with a broken line leaving it 
but not connected to anything. Would this be possible?
