this project involves building a client-side application using the eclipse
rich client platform, http://www.eclipse.org/rcp/, (will consider other
approaches) that will communicate with a server using a custom-built,
XML-based protocol that controls a synthetic beamforming antenna system.
this will need heavy use of some sort of java graphing/charting library.
(jfreechart is not a viable candidate as eclipse does not allow swing
widgets to be embedded in swt using a java 1.4 vm on linux. our target
platform is linux on a ppc with a java 1.4 vm.) knowledge of and
experience with building portable and efficient (performance is a big
factor in this project) java applications is a must. experience with xml
and the dom api a plus. we're an ide agnostic shop. we have an ant-based
automated build process. revision control is done with subversion. scm is
done with trac, http://www.edgewall.com/. small, quick paced team. you'll
have plenty of ownership over this application with assistance from the
project lead.
this is on an 1099, fixed price bid basis for approximately six months.
potential for additional work. telecommuting ok with occasional meetings
in westlake and camarillo.
