Which version of eclipse do you use.
I have created a new "Hello world" - Java Project.
Kontextmenu "Run as...->Java Application" from the class file immediatly starts my application.
Kontextmenu "Run as--->Java Application" from the project folder shows all classes from the java rt.jar and my own class. After selecting this it will be started.

I use version 3.1RC1 with Windows XP.

No idea what goes from in your environment.

Hello Uwe!
I know what the message must mean. In my case I can't launch class which has main function. Besides I can launch it only via Run menu by manually typing full path to class name (I mean launch via popup menu Run As -> Java Application doesn't work).

Try deleting the project (not the individual files) and creating a new project using the folder containing all your files, and use the automatic "Run As... --> Java Application" rather than creating the run parameters manually. That worked for me.
