Product Manager (Visual Studio.net or Eclipse Plugins)
Location: Preferred Irvine, CA but open.
Job Description:
Quest Software is currently seeking a product manager to manage the Java,
net and database management product line. The candidate will be
responsible for overall product line direction for the products in these
area. This position reports to the director of product management.
Job Responsibilities:
· Works with DBAs, DBA Managers, application developers and database
developers to understand the need for application and database management
products.
· Researches and analyzes the market to quantify the business opportunity
and build a business case for these products.
· Works with individual product managers and developers to define the
product requirements, and to ensure timely delivery of quality software
that meets customer requirements.
· Works with product marketing to determine how to position, price and
distribute the product to maximize market share and revenue.
· Stays abreast of competitive product offerings in the marketplace and
new technologies that provide market opportunities.
· Maintains a continuous learning program for professional growth and
development and maintains a professional network of business relationships
inside and outside the company to achieve business objectives.
Job Requirements:
§ Previous experience as a product manager supporting application and
database related software products is required.
§ Experience with Visual Studio.Net or Eclipse Plugins.
§ Must have a 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
§ Strong knowledge of relational database technology with an emphasis on
development
§ 3+ years work experience with database on any platform
§ Must have a strong technical background, ideally a Computer Science
degree, and a solid conceptual and practical understanding of client
server architectures
§ Good understanding of software development processes and lifecycle
§ Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team
environment
§ Good organizational and planning skills
§ Excellent written and oral communication skills, including performing
presentations
