Yes, please do - I'd be happy to "mediate" if you feel that a committer on
Eclipse Platform/JDT/PDE rejects a contribution without reason, or ignores
something important.

Yes, this seems to be very common. I am sure that in the past, I have marked
bugs as wontfix or invalid without giving a full explanation as to why I
made that decision. Sometimes, all it takes is another comment in bugzilla
asking why, in a polite way. This is what I do when I don't understand the
reaction for a bug that I reported, and sometimes it works pretty well.
