Us too!

I would hope there would be some process to ensure the rooms are adequate for the number of attendees.

Well, yes and no. Doug Gaff (Program Chair) and I have spent quite a bit of time trying to guess which tutorials are going to be more popular and putting those in larger rooms. Other than that, we're going with first come, first served. With 20 parallel tutorial sessions, we think it will even out fairly well. (I hope.)

Often at the more popular long sessions, people end up

I haven't noticed this at EclipseCon so far, but then I can't be everywhere, so it could easily have happened. I do notice people standing at the back of the room from time to time, but it appeared to be by choice (or a choice of "eewh, I don't want to sit 'next' to someone else :-).

Power has also been an issue at past tutorials, and a head count would help this.

As of this writing, there will not be power at the tutorials. The tutorial presenters were alerted to this when they submitted their tutorials. This decision is destined to be unpopular, sigh, but it is made for strictly financial reasons: putting that many power strips in that many room costs a lot of money (about the price of a nice new automobile).

However, if the registration numbers are outstanding, we'll have some extra money and power strips are our first priority. So... help us out and convince your friends to register!
