[news.eclipse.birt] Re: birt report as print preview on desktop app

Andreas,

I am not certain what you mean by preview, but the BIRT designer uses a preview that is not server based. The designer is an Eclipse application that makes use of the BIRT viewer plugin, which uses jetty internally to run.

Hi community,

is it possible to use birt reports as print preview in desktop applications without the use of a server background environment?
If so, can you give me some information how to do it or where i can find info about such a configuration?

As far as i know, i can't use the report viewer. It needs a Server to work. I read about a customized report designer which uses a embedded Birt report engine for previewing report. Thats sounds promissing but i don't know if this would fit the needs of a preview like display.

By the way would it be more common to use Birt on server-based environments like jboss application server.

thanks in advance
