ALF Weekly Project Meeting

03-May-2007

Eclipse Review Process

a.. No news this week. Brian will be scheduling the review once we have
our J-Unit tests ready.
b.. The tool we purchased is working well to help us generate the J-Unit
tests. This will require some manual process to make them fully usable.
c.. Eclipse is trying to distinguish incubation projects from other
projects so we need work on getting the word "incubation" into the download
file names. JAR files need to include the word "incubation" in the titles.
Doc would need to be updated if it refers to these specific JAR files.

Other:

a.. Need to determine if there's an alternative to using environment
variable (ALF_Home) and what is driving this. (Tim) IDD needs to have this
resolved since it may affect a lot of the doc. 04/26/07 - Tim says the
contents for ALF_Home will remain the same for ALF 1.0 release, but this may
change for Vail.
b.. SSO component is not compiling with the latest release of Axis2 so
today's build will be done with the earlier version. This means that the
SSO support for Event Manager won't be available yet. These compile issues
should be worked out for next week's build. IDD should be able to proceed
with their writing using today's build. 04/26/07 - the problem is that
there is no version of Rampart and this won't be updated until mid May. We
have worked around this for now until the Rampart issue is resolved. Dev is
working with REG on this. 05/03/07 - workaround in place for now.
c.. We need to update the version of Java that we're using to compile
the build. 04/26/07 - we decided to hold off on this because Vail has moved
the requirement from 1.2 up to 1.5, which is what we're using.
d.. Brian and Tim have delivered information to our Cognizant team so
they can begin developing our component tests. 04/26/07 - Brian has been
reviewing what Cog has provided and it's a good start. He's been providing
some feedback to Cognizant. They have also started on the J-Unit tests.
They have asked for a meeting with Brian and George this evening.
05/03/07 - Brian has been working with Cog who have been working on
component test for STS. Because these are ready, QA will have portions that
they won't be tested by next week.
e.. Tim has encountered another Axis 2 problem. He thinks it's in the
generated code and if so he can provide a workaround for today's build.
05/03/07 - workaround in place for now.
f.. Today's call with Higgins - they are still working to get all pieces
back together, so we expect it will be May before they have something to
deliver. Next call will be Monday.
g.. We're seeing a crash on the Active BPEL since we've moved to Axis 2
and started to use RPC literal. It's likely a bug in Active BPEL, but we
need to track down the cause of this. Tim will investigate when he has some
time.

Decisions/Issues:

a.. Higgins STS - we're currently testing with a snapshot of the STS
from March. The new version of this won't be available until the end of
April at the earliest. This means we may have to distribute the snapshot
version with our RC 1.0. There are other dependent libraries that ALF users
will need. IDD will document what is needed, where they need to get it, and
what to do with it so they have everything they will need.
b.. QA and IDD will complete what they can by next week as planned. We'll
need to schedule 2-3 days towards the end of May or first of Jun to complete
final doc changes and QA pass after we get the new drop from Higgins and
Axis.
