[news.eclipse.newcomer] Re: RCP Training / Study Group

Hello,

The company I work for is making serious commitment to Eclipse RCP. A co-worker and I have been tasked with putting together a Study Plan for our project team. We've ordered 6 copies of "Eclipse Rich Client Platform,
Designing, Coding, and Packaging Java Applications " by Jeff McAffer and Jean-Michel Lemieux

Fantastic. Be aware that we are updating that book for Eclipse 3.5 (which will be out in June). The rough cuts should be posted to Safari in the next few weeks. The version of the book you ordered is based on Eclipse 3.1 but still has good relevant knowledge. Another good book that was updated recently is called "Eclipse Plug-ins":

We are hoping to use the book as a Study Guide. Does anyone have any advice for getting a team of people up to speed on Eclipse RCP Development?

My advice would be to take a training course if possible. That's always the quickest way. The Eclipse Training Series is coming up, which offers a variety of courses around RCP (Basic and Advanced):

If time is an issue, you can always take a course from a company like mine that provides in specialized Eclipse training:

If you need more than that, we do mentoring to.

There are also other great companies providing RCP training in the Eclipse ecosystem... check them out here:

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck on your Eclipse RCP adventure, it'll be fun!

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
