[news.eclipse.dsdp.tml] Extension Point for New VNC Connections

Hi, I have been working with tml VNC plug-in already for sometime and it looks better and better. Thank you! I would like to add a new requirement for the project. I don't know whether there is a specific place for requirements that's why I'm using this ma...

Hi,

I have been working with tml VNC plug-in already for sometime and it
looks better and better. Thank you!

I would like to add a new requirement for the project. I don't know
whether there is a specific place for requirements that's why I'm using
this mailing list.

Actually, my requirement can be split in two parts:

1. As a user of VNC client I would like it allow me to save connection
details. I would expect it to work as Run../Debug.. buttons in Eclipse,
but located on the view toolbar.

2. As a developer of an Eclipse plug-in which uses VNC client I want to
add predefined VNC connections. I guess, an extension point would be a
good solution for this. The extension mechanism should allow to perform
following scenario:

	1. check whether certain connection can be established. In this
step I would check that devise is connected to PC.
2. prepare for connection. Here I could start vnc server on
device. This step could return VNC connection details.
3. connection stopped. Notify plug-in that connection has been
terminated.

Please, let me know how to proceed with this requirements. I can also
implement them by myself and send you patches. Lets just agree that we
are not spending time implementing same things in different places.

Best Regards,
Petr

>> Hello Rennie,
>
> Hi Fabio!
>
>> Do you have more details about this issue?
>
> Well, I am not sure what else I can add. Essentially, I can attach to the
> VNC server fine, and I can see the pointer move in response to movements
> within the view, but a click (potentially the release is the problem) does
> not produce any results. I can use a standalone tightVNC client from the
> same Windows host to connect to the same server and that works, so I know
> it is not a server config problem.
>
> The setup is Ganymede + the VNC components identified, with a target on
> Puppy Linux 4.1. I don't believe there is any .log output.
>
>> This is a valid configurations but I need more information to know
>> exactly what is the problem?
>
> I am happy to help diagnose. Perhaps you have a debug plug-in that will
> indicate whether it gets to the part of the code that actually sends the
> click/release event?
>
> I am reasonably familiar with eclipse plug-in development, but at this
> time I am not quite setup to debug this on my own.
>
> Thanks,
>
> Rennie

> Hello,
>
> Interrested by the problematic addressed by Tml project I've installed the
> latest release (0.1) in my eclipse 3.4...
>
> I know want to try the demo described in the

>
> I suppose that the demo described in this page does not correspond to the
> latest release: - it run on eclipse 3.3 and,
> - it describes how to configure qemu and qemureact examples which are
> already included in the latest release
>
> So, is there a documentation about the 3rd point of Running the Tml demo
> section: "Open the TmL Perspective and enjoy it"
>
> Under the TmL perspective I've tried to create new instances of QEmuARM
> and QEmuReact.
>
> What do the 3 fields (port, host, display) correspond to ? And more
> generaly how I get quikly a demonstrative environment ?
>
>
> Thank you for any help.
