+ Extract by time period: Since SpectrumSCM is a task-based system, in 
general the extractions of files

(customer requested) scenarios it is most useful to be able to extract by 
time.
i. What has changed since last week/month
ii. What was the state of the repository/files last week/month.
A time based extraction gives the user the capability to specify the time 
period of interest and only the
specific file versions existing (or changed) within that time-frame will be 
extracted.
+ 2-way and 3-way Diff/Merge Editor Enhancements added the "Quick-Bar" which 
gives easier access to
difference related information and actions. Adds real-time difference counts 
and quick resolution buttons to
be able to resolve differences directly without further mouse-clicks or 
cut&paste type operations.
+ Attachment options: Added and expanded drag-N-drop and save capabilities 
for Change Request
attachments. This further enhances the ease with which users can attach and 
manage supporting
documentation to their issues/tasks, which in turn improves trackability and 
traceability.
+ Checksum command line function: Checksums were already directly available 
through the UI under the
workspace difference tool. This enhancement adds the matching functionality 
to the commandline to
facilitate quick and easy verification of the accuracy of files. For example 
a list of checksums could be
obtained/stored when a release is extracted such that comparisons at a later 
point in time can verify whether
anything has changed. This is very useful, particularly when dealing with 
support situations on production
or customer systems.
+ Administrator unlock of concurrent edits: Extend the existing unlock 
capabilities to support
concurrent/parallel edits i.e. where multiple users have the same file out 
for edit at the same time. This
feature allows the administrator to specifically select which edit session 
he/she desired to unlock. The
affected user will be automatically notified if automaic notifications are 
enabled.
+ Additional action buttons on Release management and Package management 
screens. To facilitate
release management type actions a number of extra capabilities (that were 
available elsewhere) have been
brought together directly under the release/package-management screens. 
Specifically this adds direct
access to extraction and reporting capabilities.
+ Report enhancements: (CR by state and/or severity report, CRs not assigned 
to release report). A number
of enhancements continue to be made to a number of reports.
+ Ability to hard delete the soft deleted items from the Delete log screen. 
A customer requested item to
facilitate repository clean-up activities.
+ Improve LDAP/Active Directory diagnostic capabilities. When configuring 
SpectrumSCM to work with
corporate LDAP/Active-Directory installations a number of different 
configurations and security issues can
arise. This enhancement helps the SpectrumSCM systems administrator diagnose 
and resolve such items.
+ Add Create CR to Assign/Modify Screen - Add a (customer requested) 
shortcut from the Change Request
Assignment dashboard over to the Change Request creation screen, so that 
when managing CRs, the user
can easily create new tasks or sub-tasks.
+ Updates to workspace diff tools - Enhance the Workspace difference/merge 
tools to add the "Quick-Bar"
functionality. Also added difference counts to the directory differencer.

Next Tuesday (September 15th), I’m going to be presenting a free webinar to introduce you to the Eclipse provisioning platform, p2, and how it can be leveraged in your own RCP applications. If you are wondering what p2 is, or how to use it in your own custom RCP application, this webinar is for you! In particular, we will be looking at how p2 can help you:

This milestone release, which builds upon the last month's Eclipse 3.5 Galileo release, contains many bug fixes and a several noteworthy features and improvements.

* Maven Integration with m2eclipse - For this release we focused on making the Seam Wizard (really, Eclipse WTP's project wizards) capable of creating Maven-ready projects. Subsequent milestones will improve support for importing from existing Maven projects.

* XHTML Validation - We have enabled proper XML validation of .xhtml files so you now get proper warnings for namespaced tags.

* Conditional Rendering in Visual Page Editor - Until now configured EL expressions in the Visual Page Editor were only used for including resources. As of M2, we evaluate EL expressions in rendered attributes to allow you to hide parts of the rendering in the editor just as it would look like in your application when running. No more double-vision!

* Improved Incremental Validation - The speed of validation of EL expressions when you save a file is now greatly improved.

* Smooks - The Smooks editor has undergone massive changes in M1 and M2. This release continues adding more features and improvements to the Smooks configuration editor.

* jBPM 4 - We have included jBPM 4 into this release, making the tools support both jBPM 3 and 4.

* Archived Update Site - Now that Eclipse's provisioning story, p2, has matured we are moving away from the old "runnable" zips and now provide an update site "repo" zip. This archive can be used to install the JBoss Tools plugins via p2 instead of the now deprecated and less predictable dropins folder. Thanks to pack200 compression, this single zip is smaller than each of the older platform-specific zips.

I have developed a group of plugins that allow Eclipse IDE users/developers to communicate from IDE to IDE. The plugin group is unique in that no third party web sites are required for chats, or registrations. Load the plugins and you are up and ready to communicate. They automatically get through firewalls.

Currently, you can keyboard chat, voice chat (similar to Skype), file transfers of any kind including executables, send and play mp3 and audio files, send and play video files, conference keyboard chat, and link browsers so one party can navigate. All communications are done from PC to PC directly.

These plugins are built with the JXTA peer to peer architecture. The web site for more information is: http://www.clique5.net. Please look at the screen shots. There is also a standalone plugin using RCP for those who do not already have an Eclipse IDE.

I need some sophisticated testers whom I will give free copies of Clique5 to. I also need some feedback on how I might turn in some of the software to the open source community, and still be able to commercially exploit the product. I'm not sure how to go about this, so suggestions are welcome. Please contact me directly for information or possible strategic partnerships.
