Re: [wtp-releng] Smoke Test Request for WTP 3.9.3 M-build

Nick,

First, since you have waited many days since the last smoke test result, I would recommend deleting all of the WTP 3.9.3 builds since last Tuesday (the day of the last result), and then doing the promote. (It doesn't make much sense to promote something that has built many days after the smoke test, with who knows what content.) Along those same lines- if things go smoothly (which hopefully we will return to), you should only have to check smoke test results at the end of the day Friday (and send nag notes if necessary, then).
Second, yes, those two commands look correct.
Third, I will look at the Wiki page and update it, as time allows. Hopefully we will get this process cleared up and smoothed out quickly.

Well, it's Friday 5pm ... too late to push a promote. Sorry! Got bogged down doing other things to ensure WTP 3.10 builds with Photon M5 and Tycho 1.1.

Is this how I should run it for the M build?

cd /shared/webtools/releng.control && ./promote.sh -vdscap wtp-R3.9.3-M

Please confirm, and I can run this on Monday.

Note too I've started a wiki page [1] to clearly document the syntax and steps, since written instructions like "copy the build over to downloads (just in case), then do the rename" are subject to interpretation.

Thanks!
