RE: [wtp-pmc] 2006 WTP Architecture Block Diagram

Thanks Tim .. yeah, I definitely slept though part of those discussions  :) ... I'll move the EJB3 box to JST and the AJAX one to WST ... good thing there's some hole's there in the diagram.

I guess us putting in this plan the board will approve will make it official :)

Thanks for clarifying.

RE: [wtp-pmc] 2006 WTP Architecture Block Diagram

My recollection is that we (the PMC) agreed to host ATF as an incubating subproject (same state JSF is in today), ATF agreed to the hosting, and the EMO agreed to the change, so while I haven’t seen any formal announcement around it, I’m taking that as a decision. I updated the ATF creation proposal to state the new location explicitly and Bjorn and Craig agreed to the wording.

For EJB/Dali: they (i.e., Shaun) and we agreed, as I recall, that a successful 0.7 checkpoint & release review would result in their graduation to WTP. (If anyone on the PMC disagrees with this plan, please say so now so we can correct it.) While we can’t prove that review will succeed in advance, I think it’s entirely fair to place the component as it will exist circa the 1.5 release presuming a happy outcome.

I know we've "chatted" with EJB3 (Dali) and AJAX projects about "incubating" them, but was under the impression those relationships were not far enough along to claim they were "part of our 1.5 release plan" as we are with JSF ... and, I thought, still some discussion about how and when to do it ... but by all means ... Arthur? Tim? ... correct my memory if this was firmer than I recall. [and, technically, AJAX would be part of WST].

Hi David,

I agree that the JSF Tools project belongs to the JST project. Shouldn't the EJB3 project be also part of JST?

Here's my near final draft of our "2006 WTP Architecture" to put in the EMO's 2006 Eclipse Roadmap.
Well, a very high-level, simplistic block-diagram of an architecture, at least.

But, this is what Bjorn wants to collect from each top project as the Architecture portion of the Eclipse Roadmap document. And ... that document is supposed to be very high level.

I'd like to send to Bjorn late today (Friday) but could resend it on Saturday, if any of you have any late breaking comments or concerns. And, sorry I didn't give
more time for input/review.

I think its good, and correct, for what it is ... but, one thing I would like confirmation of, Raghu, is if it is "ok" to include JSF right there as if it is already part of the JST project.
If I recall correctly, I'm pretty sure that's what we've agreed to (in the "1.5 timeframe", which is what this document is for) and is the path we are currently on ... but didn't want to "jump the gun" or offend anyone by seeming to subsume projects. I did make it a special color to denote its special status :) ... but will likly tone that down a bit so its not so garish.

I will still tweak the fonts, layouts and colors before I send to Bjorn (but notes of gross spelling mistakes will still be appreciated :)

Or ... any other comments as well!

Looking back at last year's ... I can tell I've come a long way in my block diagram making ability :)

Thanks.
