[wtp-incubator-dev] XQuery Development Tools Proposal

There is a new proposal ready for WTP review and consideration
(following the process outlined by the Eclipse Development process).
The XQuery Development Tools project.

http://wiki.eclipse.org/WTP/XQuery/Proposal

Background information:

XQuery was designed by XML Query working group of the W3C in order to
present a convenient way to query largely (but not limited to) XML data
collections and became a W3C recommendation on January 23, 2007.
Currently many commercial XML Databases support XQuery as a platform to
query its data. Also with the upcoming new XQuery version which is 1.1,
it is believed XQuery will be the main data query technique for XML
documents as well as databases. As such, it is quite useful to have an
editor for XQuery with rich functionality such as syntax validation and
content assistance under WTP umbrella.

The proposal is being made by Buddhika Laknath, he worked on this as a
google summer of code project, and would like to continue it's
development as an official web tools incubator project. I mentored
Laknath during the summer of code period, and I'm quite familiar with
the code and functionality of the project. Buddhika would be
recommended to be a committer on the XQuery project as he created the
initial code base, and has shown continued dedication to the code not
only during soc, but after the project ended as well.

This project would be another incubating project like the XSL Tools and
other proposed incubator project. There is a bugzilla open for this
proposal as well.

Please provide feedback either here or in the bugzilla bug. The
proposal is open for comments and review.
