[wtp-dev] New and Noteworthy time for M5
|

failure? I think still ICU issue in DTP bundle:

No I think not. The compile part of the build did work, JUnit's have
started. ICU is a singleton, so it won't run any better with the old one
there, maybe worse (that is, only one singleton can "run", which ever is
requested first, I guess, which I'm sure would always be "4.0". So, we
can build, but not test, until we get the updated datatools build.
Reserve some time on Friday :)
...which means you all have time to fill it in on Thursday! Right?
The templates for M5 have been added to the web site repository, and
you can preview the results at
http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/development/news/3.1M5/ . As usual,
if a project doesn't have anything written up on the morning of the
milestone's availability, I'll just comment out the link to it from
the overview page, no fuss, no muss.
As I asked in earlier milestones of this release, let's take our
screenshots on Microsoft Windows XP using the default blue theme
when possible, saving them as properly cropped .png files so as not
to detract from our usual page layout. The improved consistency in
their appearance gives the results that little extra polish, and for
components who may not have access to an XP installation, just let
me know what's needed to produce the right screens and I'll lend a
hand in producing them.
The attached team project set contains just the 3.1M5 folder if you
want to quickly get started from within Eclipse. To set yourself up
to edit your subproject's contents manually, connect to the web site
repository at :extssh:dev.eclipse.org:/cvsroot/org.eclipse and
either check out the entire contents of the /www/webtools folder, or
just /www/webtools/development/news/3.1M5 if you only want to work
on this milestone's files.
And don't forget that API additions or changes, significant version
number updates, and especially migration information should be
recorded in "New Help for Old Friends IV" (
http://wiki.eclipse.org/New_Help_for_Old_Friends_IV ). WTP is large
enough that adopters might otherwise have a hard time finding what
they need to do to have a clean and properly functioning build when
picking up our milestones. As always, if there are any questions or
concerns, feel free to raise them.
