Re: [wtp-dev] User Interface Consistency initiative

Hi Jesper,

We are planning to make some simplifying changes to the WSDL editor in the WTP M6 time frame (see bug 130708 [1]).  We've just begun this work so details are a bit spotty.    I'll update the bug soon with details as they become available including some mockups and screen caps.   Once more details arrive I'll be sure to post a newsgroup topic for this to inform the community at large and get feedback.  We'd be very interested to hear your feedback since I think your critique hit the nail on the head!  And of course we'll be working with Janet to get her expert advice on our UI changes.

BTW, we're doing some rework of the XML Schema graphical visualziation too [2].

Hi Janet,

An intriguing task you've got ahead of you. As I see it, the WSDL graph
editor is a recurring source of annoyance: It is simply too wide and
complicated (mirroring WSDL1.1, I suppose...) to give a full overview.
As I see it, it could be simplified a lot in the case of
document/literal descriptions, which might make sense since doc/lit is
are becoming the usage/encoding of choice due to WS-I standardisation,
and since the WSDL spec itself is heading that direction for 2.0.
