Why are these defects conflicting?   116699 is about defaulting facet version based on an optional runtime selection on the first page.

117497 - seems to be an extendable mechanism for selecting which facets are selected by default

We can certainly raise the priority on 117497 and try to get it in. It sounds like its not a P3. If we are going to do this for 1.0, we need to stop work on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=116699, which conflicts with this.

Hi Konstantin,

I don't mean to pick on you, but 117497 is a major issue for us. It is a serious usability regression from 0.7 or M8.

Consider the case of a vendor that builds a product solely to do JSF tools on top of WTP. When the user creates a Web project, JSF will actually be disabled by default. The user has to know not to click Finish on the first page, and go to the second page to enable the JSF facet. I think we need to provide basic support for vendors to enable their facets by default.

One of the main goals for WTP 1.0 is vendor adopter. We are therefore tracking bugs that are important for vendor adoption in a "Hot List" [1]. These bugs should be at least P2 and we should target them for no later than RC2.
