Re: [wtp-dev] Do we need an M3a?

I'm not a developer for the WTP project, but I am a "hopeful" user -
I've posted on the WTP newsgroup about my frustrating experiences in
trying to get M3 up and running. (full post here:
http://jroller.com/page/rob/20050303#eclipse_wtp_m3_what_is) I did
finally get it working, but not after much unnecessary difficulties.

A fix pack to at least remove the "optional" web service dependancy
would be very nice, and would be far less confusing to users. If that
couldn't be done, the M3 page should really be updated to list that as
a required piece, so at least it would be clear to users.

I know Jeff Liu has posted about allowing a user to grab all required
WTP pieces with Update Manager, but could a all-in-one zip be posted
in the interim? Not sure what the timeframe is like on getting things
hooked up to update manager.

Anyways, I work with WSAD every day at a large IT organization that is
actually quite receptive to open source, but I know they would never
consider even evaluating WTP with the install process as it is. Its a
shame, too, because I would much rather be using WTP with how much
power and flexibility it gives you...
