[vtp-dev] VTP Development Call Minutes: November 10, 2005

Eclipse Voice Tools Development Call Minutes

November 10, 2005, 11am EST

Attendees:

Brent D. Metz, IBM
Joe Oh, Audium
Jeff Pedigo, SandCherry
John Buttito, SandCherry
Michael Greenawalt, TellMe
Andrew Wahbe, VoiceGenie

The call began with a discussion of recent development activity. It was stated that several bugs present in bugzilla
had been resolved and that new functionality to properly report the dirty state of the contributed UI elements in
the launch configuration dialog had been added.

A discussion was held regarding a VTP standardized input view in the project. The topic of whether or not a log
view was necessary as part of that view or if the Eclipse standard console view was sufficient. Several participants
noted that they produce complex data and would welcome functionality such as table-based view of their log data and
log detail filtering. It was asked whether or not standardization efforts would be relevant to the design of such
a log view. It was noted that the current efforts in the speech community under the VoiceXML Forum Tools Subcommittee
relate to analysis of log information and do not necessarily apply to realtime log viewing.

The topic of the input view continued with a discussion of the possible functions available in the view. DTMF input
was cited as functionality that would be present and semantic interpretation and a simple text input field were also
listed as possibilities. It was noted that for every method of input available in the view a capability flag would
have to be exposed by the browser implementing the API to let the view know whether or not to expose a piece of
function.
