Hi Robert,
from the error log you provided I see you are working with the JEE bundle of Eclipse (a.k.a. Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers). This bundle (and probably some other) have conflicting problems when trying to install VE.

Anyway there is a solution.
Use the Eclipse Classic 3.5.1 (a.k.a. Galileo SDK), you can find it here:

http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.5.1-200909170800/index.php

and install VE as the first thing (here is the update site):

http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ve/updates/1.4

then add other plugins if you need other.
