[ui-best-practices-working-group] multi-instance properties view for Galileo?

to platform-ui-dev (and cc to ui-best-practices-working-group)

We are considering a new "multi-instance" feature for the properties view, based on a contribution by Markus Kuppe (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=248103).

I suspect that this feature could be useful for a wider audience than is currently subscribed to the bug. In particular, we need help documenting specific use cases for this feature on this wiki page:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Multi-instance_Properties_View

I am looking for relatively concrete use cases, maybe based on well-known examples like the library.ecore file, or example GEF/GMF editors - this will make it possible for others to reproduce the use case "steps".

Based on these use cases, I would like to do a short walk-through of the new feature using one of the next weekly calls (http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI). As you can see on the wiki page, we have a good number of views that are multi-instance capable, all slightly different in subtle ways. If we get it right, we might be able to reduce the potential end-user confusion, and in the best case, end up with a recommendation for how multi-instance views should behave.

Thanks
Boris
