I'm new to eclipse. My question is:
Is there a way to select whole word in editor with CTRL+single Left click,
like in Visual Studio? It is very practical when replacing more words with
copy/paste. Copy is CTRL+C, paste is CTRL+V, so having a CTRL+single click
on a word to select it does make a lot of sense. in Visual Studio, I can
keep CTRL pressed all the time and only keep clicking on word, C, word,
V, word, C, word, V... etc. I do this often (copy a list of columns from
database tool, paste the list to editor and then mete individual columns
out to where they belong with cut or copy paste). Now i have to be pressing
and releasing CTRL and doubleclicking words like retarded.

Thanks,
the differences could be converted to the change logs in
                a file. For example,
when line 3 is added, the change event like "Line 3,

Hi guys,

I came across this guideline:

Guideline 6.29

Use the Task view to show errors found when the Save command is invoked.

http://wiki.eclipse.org/User_Interface_Guidelines#Error_Notification

Is this a mistake? Shouldn't we use the Problems view for error notification instead of the Task view?

Best Regards,

Eitan

That's an outdated advice. In the olden days, there was just a Tasks view
that showed all kinds of markers, but nowadays, indeed the Problems view
is the place to show problems.

Hi, Eitan.
I believe the guideline is out of date.

Prior to Eclipse 3.0, problems indeed appeared in the tasks view. Starting with Eclipse 3.0, markers with a marker type of problem moved to the problems view. [1].
In Eclipse 3.4, a generic markers view was introduced for those who preferred the old style. [2].

From a guideline point of view, it probably makes sense to change this to say "Problems view." From an implementation point of view, it's best to mark the resource with a problem marker, knowing it will show up in whichever view the user chooses.
