No doubt about it ;) IIRC there are already several bugs discussing that, or part of that, and they're quite tricky to fix. I believe https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=353889 is the cause of all the evil. If you can write a fix for it, I guess it would be very welcome!

Would you be ok to try to make a MVN/Tycho POC and adapting (a tiny amount amount of) Tycho source code to additionally handle that use-case?

I don't have plans to work on Tycho at the moment. However, Tycho welcomes patches, so if you can tweak a few things to ease your use-cases without adding "noise" to the regular use-cases, such changes will be very likely to be merged.
