Jan,
a Nexus plugin doesn't work for me, because I don't have control over the Nexus instance which hosts the update site zip [1].
I could stick this Nexus plugin into my own Nexus instance where I proxy [1], but this wouldn't help someone trying to build my project, because she wouldn't access my Nexus.
