Re: [tycho-dev] Tycho 2.0 approaching, please test snapshots ASAP before we start release process

I already use 2.0-SNAPSHOT at my daily builds and haven't found any problems yet.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to have an RC1 release with the option to include further breaking changes?

Hi all,

So I think we've implemented the main necessary changes for Tycho 2.0, which is a big release with major changes, notably in target platform resolution and execution environment handling. See the release notes at https://wiki.eclipse.org/Tycho/Release_Notes/2.0#New_and_Noteworthy . Tycho 2.0.0-SNAPSHOT is currently successfully used in order to build Eclipse Equinox+Platform+JDT+PDE, and has been successfully tested against Eclipse Packages build. So I think the current state makes it ready for release, and I'd like to release it ASAP. I plan to start the release process next week, staging the bits on Monday August 3rd to release on Friday August 7th. I recommend stakeholders who want to avoid surprises to start testing Tycho 2.0.0-SNAPSHOT as described on https://wiki.eclipse.org/Tycho/Release_Notes/2.0#SNAPSHOT_site_docs , and to report issues if you face any so we can easily fix them without re-staging and delaying the release.

Thanks in advance,
