Can you explain how one would run the build against latest macen
snapshot? I might be able to take a deeper look at this then the next days.

Ok, so it's fully on polyglot-build hands' then.
BTW: Why does it blocks maven?
They want to get rid of all major issues before starting the 3.7 stream,
and this one is the last major issue user face in 3.6.x.

I think this story highlight a missed from Tycho: the
https://ci.eclipse.org/tycho/job/tycho-build-with-maven-snapshots/ job
should have caught this regression in 3.6.x before the release and
should have it reported to Maven. But this job is/was missing the
tycho-extras build+test. I'm trying to enable it right now.
