Re: [Fwd: [training-working-group] eclipse and remote cvs connection]

2007/11/1, Matthias Roth <matthias.roth@xxxxxxxxx>:
Hi Daniel
what you like exactly to do?

the "normal" way to connect to a cvs server and check in some
project is:
1. open CVS Perspective (window->Open Perspective->other->CVS repository Explorer
2. create a new cvs connection (right click on CVS Repository view -> new)
enter host, repository path, user, password, connection type
enter finish, eclipse will now try to connect to the cvs server
3. Now you can add project the the repository if no error message is shown.
switch to java perspective
right click on your project you like to add to the cvs repository
-> team -> share Project -> CVS -> [your cvs connection] -> ...

If you like to enter some special settings for cvs connection, you can
reach the dialog "Configure connection preferences" with the menu Window -> Preferences -> Team
-> CVS -> Ext Connection Method.

If you can not show the property editor, and eclipse crashes, then you have not a proper
eclipse installation. To find out what the problem is, look in your eclipse installation folder, under
the folder 'configuration' if there is a log file, have a look at it. If there is no log file go to your
workspace folder, under the folder '.metadata', if there is one ore more log files, select the newest
and have a look at it.

if can not interpret the log files, you can also send me the files but also your configuration Detail
(Help Menu -> About Eclipse -> Configuration Detail)

regards
Matthias

Hi, I have a problem using Eclipse and connecting to a remote cvs server. 1. I set up a project 2. I right click on the projekt, select "Team" and then "Share Project". 3. In order to configure publickey authentication I select "Configure connection preferences" 4. Eclipse exits without any note. The entire window just disappears and the application is closed. I use win XP SP 2, Eclipse
3.3.0 and Java Runtime-Version 1.6.0_03. Has anyone had the same experience or has any idea what I could do? Thank you very much. Kind regards Daniel p.s. Please let me know if this is the wrong channel. -- Psssst! Schon vom neuen GMX MultiMessenger gehört? Der kann`s mit allen:
