Re: [tm-dev] sourceTemplateFeature

Hi Martin,

“Export > Deployable Features” works just fine, for TCF. And the feature’s generated source feature contains the epl-v10 and license HTML files as expected.

For TM Terminal, the “Export Deployable Features” fails, but I do not understand why.

Problem during export

The following error occurred while executing this line:

C:\NoScan\work\spaces\development\te\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\assemble.org.eclipse.pde.container.feature.p2.xml:50: The following error occurred while executing this line:

C:\NoScan\work\spaces\development\te\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\assemble.org.eclipse.pde.container.feature.p2.xml:24: The following error occurred while executing this line:

C:\NoScan\work\spaces\development\te\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\features\org.eclipse.tm.terminal.source\build.xml:81: Property licenseURL in C:\NoScan\work\spaces\development\te\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\org.eclipse.pde.container.feature\features\org.eclipse.tm.terminal.source\..\..\..\..\.bundle_pool\features\org.eclipse.license_1.0.1.v20140414-1359\feature.properties conflicts with property in C:\NoScan\work\spaces\development\te\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\temp\destination\features\org.eclipse.tm.terminal.source_3.2.300.201406040724\feature.properties

However, both the Exports from the Eclipse UI should never be used for releasing something. You can use it for quickly trying out changes without the need to commit them, but producing releasable artifacts, that’s the job of Tycho.

Just my 2 cents,

Best regards, Uwe

Just read Sergey's comment again, and he uses "Export > Deployable Features"

Sorry for my mis-typing. Uwe, could you try it again on TCF with Deployable Features ?

Thanks,

Martin

Thanks Uwe - interesting.

Would you mind sending a reply on the cdt-dev list ?

I think nobody wants to keep the "sourceTemplate*" stuff around if nobody needs it.

Strange enough, it was broken for CDT until the "sourceTemplate*" stuff was added....

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I'm using "Export > Deployable Plugins and Fragments" on a regular basis for both TCF and TM Terminal without issue. This strange "sourceTemplateFeature" exists for TM Terminal features only because I do not want to change the feature structure. In ideal world I would have renamed them to the normal way of doing features long ago. For TCF we do not have these folder at all and I don't want to see them in TCF. It's all working as it is.

Just my 2 cents,

Best regards, Uwe :)
